I can't believe I haven't posted an update in almost 3 months! But I'm gonna use the whole "Sorry, I've been way too busy" excuse, because I have, in fact, been way too busy.
First of all, back in December, I auditioned for a pop group (based out of Orlando) that had just lost one of their members. I thought the auditions went pretty well, but I didn't hear back from them over the next few weeks, so I assumed I didn't get in it.
In the beginning of January, I received a call from one of the managers that works at Transcon. He told me how much he liked my music and that he wanted me to stop in and audition for Lou, which I did about a week later. When I arrived, I found out that Lou was putting together a new boyband, and that he was searching for the members. I auditioned for him in his office, and he told me to come back for the "Top 25" callbacks on the 31st (they also had open call auditions, which I bypassed). The callbacks lasted 8 hours, most of which was spent sitting around and talking to the other guys who were called back.
After the callbacks, I was told I'd find out by the end of that week whether or not I made the group. I got a call the following Monday, letting me know that I didn't make the final cut -- but then, only a few hours later, got a call that said "Hey, we want you to be a part of our group!". Of course, I assumed the second phone call was a friend of mine playing a badly-timed practical joke on me. When I inquired further, it turned out that the group I had auditioned for back in December wanted me as their new member. How weird is that?
So, later that week, I met with the President of the label, the group's manager, and the rest of the group. I was handed a copy of the contract to look over, which I did the next day and signed. The group's name? TGK.
So, I became a part of TGK, and was in rehearsals the next day, learning choreography to three songs for a few performances in New York City the following week. After one of our performances in New York, we were approached by a marketing executive who liked us so much that he wanted us to perform on "The Early Show" on CBS. We ended up flying back up and doing an interview with them the following week (video captures are on the forums).
The day after we returned from New York, we began recording our debut album with our producer, Allegro. So far, the entire recording process has been about 10 hours a day, almost every day, for the past few weeks. It's been awesome. I've even gone in a few days where the group wasn't required to, just to hang out and see how everything is done. Lucky for me, it paid off, because I ended up getting to co-write two songs on our album ("Fire" and "Shake It"), as well as a song called "Elimited" that, unfortunately, we're not gonna have time to record.
Once the album is done, we'll be rehearsing with our new choreographer, Abdiel, in preparation for our European tour that's starting in May. We'll be going to the UK for the first two weeks and performing at clubs and stuff, and then we're opening for either Boyzone or Westlife (or both) on their tour(s) that start in June.
As for my site, I decided to turn it into a journal-based site so that I can keep you updated on the latest information about me and TGK (and so I can update more often, since I can now access the journal from anywhere). My forums and TGK's forums have merged, so anything posted on my forums will automatically show up on theirs and vice-versa.
I plan to update the journal at least once a week now, so be sure to keep checking back for all of the latest news and information, and don't forget to post on the Jordan Johnson / TGK Forums as well. =)
Peace,
JJ
