Full Version: The End...

So unfortunately, the end came much sooner than I expected. As of yesterday, I am no longer a part of TGK.

I don't want to get too deep into it, but basically, the group was asked to sign a management deal that bound us for [up to] 4 years (1 year with 3 one-year options). While the terms of our recording contract were very, very good, there were quite a few things in the management contract that I was unsure of. I consulted with an attorney who gave me a list of 7 or 8 things that should be changed, and after talking with the label (who was negotiating the deal for the manager), two of them were fixed to the extent that I had asked. It came to a point that I was told to either sign the deal or walk, and unfortunately, I had to walk.

To my surprise, I don't feel like I blew a huge opportunity, as I expected. I think it's because, the entire time, my gut instinct was telling me not to sign the deal. I've gone against my gut feelings in the past and lived to regret it every single time, so I couldn't make the same mistake again (especially one that would last for four years!).

I know that a lot of singers have the attitude that they will sign anything, because their lawyer will just get them out of the deal if they're unhappy, but I can't be that way.

This is the second deal I've been offered in the past year that I've been told is "the chance of a lifetime" and "the best deal I'd ever come across", so while it saddens me to have to say goodbye to everyone from a business aspect (I have nothing against them personally), I feel optimistic that something better will come along for me... even if it takes another year or so to happen.

In the meantime, of course, my focus for my career is on recording more music, and I plan to take another trip to New York to record a few songs sometime late this month or early next month. I also was offered an exclusive modeling contract with BMG about a month ago, so I'm gonna consider doing that on the side as well.

I'll be sure to post another update within the next week or so.

Peace,
Jordan
