So there was a huge protest today in NYC against MTV today and from what my friend said who was there, it was crazy! lol
Tons of Backstreet Boys fans went outside TRL with signs and t-shirts and everything just supporting BSB because MTV refuses to play there new cideo.
They also went to the Today Show, and the Virgin Megastore from what I hear.
I think its awesome and if I didnt have work, I totally would have been there.

What is the reasoning behind MTV not playing their video. I think I saw it when they play the music videos at night....
Those guys must be getting on a bit now. I thought they split up. Hmmm.
It's funny how fans go so nuts about their heros. Michael Jackson fans are the worsed! They are so defensive and will lash out on anyone who says one word of criticism against him. Even if the criticism is valid.

MTV told Brians wife that they wont play "Just Want You To Know" on TRL because they dont wanna bring the boybands back into swing.

MTV released a statement like a week ago that they weren't keeping the video from being played. Besides, if MTV did have some kind of conspiracy against them, I doubt they'd reveal it to someone in the Backstreet Boys camp, especially one of the member's wives.
I actually think it's because most people don't like the video. I have a few friends that are die-hard Backstreet Boys fans and they even said they haven't been requesting it. So it's just a matter of supply and demand.
[edit] I just went to MTV.com, and their video is actually the 6th video down on the
TRL Voting Page.

Well from what Brians wife posted on her official message board, MTV told her different.
She posted that they told her they weren't putting the video into airplay because they didnt wanna bring the boyband scene back into swing.
They showed the priemere and didnt play it again after that even though they said it got tons of votes.
Brians wife was the one that put the whole protest together so I'm pretty sure she had some backing behind it.

MTV, VH1, CBS, news resources, Entertainment Tonight, quite a few large record labels too...all owned by Viacom. That company along with Disney and Newscorp (Fox) more or less run the media world- and they pick and choose what is and is not media...

What's her official website?
It sounds more like a ploy to gain publicity for the group since their tour sales have been lacking -- Melissa saw them perform in an arena that held 20,000 seats, and only 4,000 of them were filled.
If MTV was trying to keep pop music from coming back, I doubt they'd play videos by Jesse McCartney or Hilary Duff either. lol.

Good point. Jesee McCrapney is as pop-ish as it gets. So I doubt they don't want pop, I guess they just dont want 90s pop bands coming back into the spotlight...

Aww..I miss pop. I love the BSB, but the video is kinda silly. It's an odd quality as well.

I didnt say they didnt want pop, they told her they didnt wanna bring the "boyband scene" back into swing.
Jesse McCartney is quite the cool kid. I have met him several times and talked to him quite some time. I actually spoke to him at the 2005 Teen Choice Awards as I sat pretty much right by him. He's a cool kid.. Nick Carter is also pretty cool.

When you say boybands, you mean pop groups. Because there are plenty of boy bands on TRL...Simple Plan, The Click 5......

I think that is ridiculous......first off IF MTV actually said that, do you honestly think that they would be stupid enough to tell a member of BSB'S camp that, that's what they were doing????
To me it seems that this is a story created to create publicity and it wouldn't surprise me if it was all fabricated by the BSB camp to generate some media buzz about them as them as their new CD lacked album sales as did their current tour.
I am highly doubting that MTV has a conspiracy against BSB and bringing back the whole "boyband" scene, as they play "The Click Five" which pretty much epitomizes "Pop Music"
VH-1 plays that video on heavy rotation and they're a sister station of MTV, so if that network had a vendetta against "boybands" why would they play them???
I think that some of you people don't realize how much the music industry uses media outlets and the public to get "what they want" out there. Artists and their labels are always on the hunt to get their name publicized no matter if the situation is good or bad. Ever heard of the term, there is such thing as bad publicity????
Believe what you want, but maybe some should just accept the fact that BSB doesn't have the same following as they once did, and maybe that's why they're not getting massive airplay on MTV!!! That and the fact, that the video isn't that great to begin with!!!

Melissa, they aren't going to hear a word you're trying to say. You know how this business works, I know how this business works, most of the general population knows that..... some people cannot grasp it.

They dont have the same following, but they almost shut down times square yesterday and the boys weren't even there.
I dunno just a thought.

I wasn't trying to say that they're not popular or what not, I was just saying that it's a lot easier to get your video played when it's actually in demand!!!! When you're albums go from selling multiple millions to barlely a million, the music worlds and fans acceptance of you is going to be a little different that it once was!!!! For me personally I love their new album and enjoyed their tour, but it takes more than one person to get their video airplay!!!
