So I was watching MTV the other day and they said something about Kanye West being the opening act for U2's North American tour, and I was like WTF, that makes NO sense whatsoever!!!

Maybe it's just me, but does that not seem like the oddest thing ever?? Don't they both have ENTIRELY different target audiences???

I agree.

I don't like either artist though, so better off they tour together, than hogging 2 different venues.
Melissa
TRUE!!!!!!

Yeah Kanye West is VERY overrated and the fact that he's convinced that the universe is racist is so frickin' annoying!!!

Yea. I thought he was out of line, insulting Bush at a benefit.

It was a benefit, not an open forum.

If you don't like who your President is, do something about it during ELECTION time.

His song with Jamie Foxx is fun, but nothing that deserves any nom for anything.

Melissa hit it on the head. Kanye is overrated.

I think Kanye is amazing. His new album touches alot more isusse then just racism.

He must be doing someting right, his new album is blowing up all over the place.

And U2 have been amazing since before most of us were born, so.

That's the great thing about music, those in the biz can always recognize something great or acknowledge someone who is talented even if they don't like a person. Where as those who aren't in the industry rarely can formulate an opinion about what is good or not if the media isn't telling them who is "good" or not!!!!

I think it's great that you like Kanye, and that he's "doing something right".....but when you're the main person "hyping" up your own CD, then that should tell you something! I see Kanye on T.V promoting himself and his album and causing controversy more than I see other people out there recognizing him for his talent and praising him for the fact that his album "touches more issues than racism"

Makes me wonder just how great he is!!!!!!

Kanye's new album is getting praise almost everywhere I look, and I guess I agree with what your saying, but every artist is out there promoting there abums, so I don't really understand that.
Melissa
I am well aware that artists go out there and promote their album. There is a difference with going on a media tour and getting the word out about your album, and going out there causing controversy just to promote it. It's sad if you have to mention it at EVERY chance even at events that have NOTHING to do with you promoting your album!!!

Like I said it's great that you like Kanye, but there is nothing you can say that will EVER make me think that he is a credible artist!!! He was out in Chicago WAY before he got mainstream success and a lot of people were surprised at the fact that he got the success that he has now. 50 Cent is about the worst rapper to ever come out in rap history and he's sold millions of records. That doesn't mean that he's talented, that means that he has a good P.R firm backing him!!!

Quantity does not necessarily mean quality!!!! And that's the difference between Kanye and a lot of other individuals in the music industry!!!

Kanye is a decent producer and a decent rapper, but that's about all that can be said positively about him. He's not doing anything unique, and all of the "controversy" surrounding him is completely contrived. The only reason his music is getting any type of positive reviews from critics is because he released his album at a time when it's politically incorrect to speak negatively of rap music. I mean, the guy can barely piece together a coherent sentence. Obviously, he's only "respected" to people who have bought into the hype repeatedly spoon-fed to the public by himself, his PR firm, and the people working for him.

I do enjoy that song with Kanye West. I shake my ass whenever it comes on.
