Sooo...she's gaining stardom now, with Hogan Knows Best and everything. If you go to
http://celebstyle.net there's a download of her new track, Lately (Uh Oh)...and her website is
http://brookehogan.com. Anyways, what do you think of her song, and her whole image in total?
I think she's SUPER talented, but her label or managment or whatever is going too popp-ish with her image and sound. Or, maybe she should shoot for adult contemporary...

I like her a lot too! From what I understand, she actually wanted to do the whole electro-pop thing from the beginning, and it was Transcon who convinced her to do pop-rock when she was signed with them. She recorded "Lately" before she got her second deal (which she now may have been dropped from, so I've heard).

Hahaha. It's all Hulk's fault.
Been there done that with the father who knows nothing about the business.

Aww lol, yes, you have Lindsay...I *LOVED* the sound of the artist in question, it's too bad she had some bad people advising her though.
It's too bad for Brooke, really. She has an amazing voice, and she could be HUGE, if she let people who knew what they were doing handle her career.
She could market herself to Europe maybe, or like I said, try adult contemporary...but pop in North America wont work.
Same thing with my FAVE signer, Angel Faith (
http://www.angelfaith.net ), she's very pop.
I have NO clue how her label, Midas Records - (
http://midasrecords.net ) is making money...
She's got corporate sponsorships with ElleGIRL and L.E.I Jeans and Bongo, and an in-house recording studio, had a nation-wide high school tour with VH1 and lotsa other mega-label expensive stuff)
...but they either are turning a HUGE profit, or are very, VERY broke (I'm guessing the latter). They are marketing her with a pop sound/image (her next album is apparently going to be R&B) but yeah, pop is DEAD (sadly)
And from what I've seen, Transcon looks like a SHIT label, correct me if I'm wrong. I mean it's like, pop is DEAD. DEAD DEAD DEAD.
I feel like talking music business, I just watched The Apprentice lol, so I'm all business-y at the moment.

Brooke would never chart on the adult contemp. charts in North America. That is more Celine Dion type music, easy listening.
Transcon made it's name because of Backstreet Boys and Nsync.
The label does well in Europe, but not so as well in America as they did back in the early pop years.

Ohh, that's too bad. She's between a rock and a tight spot then, eh? I hope she makes it big, I'm rooting for her...she's got talent!
Yeah, Transcon seems like a HUGE pop label. Good for them, but that era is dead and gone, maybe it'll come back some day.
Like, if I ever start my record label (Allure Records- it'll be big one day, LOL), I'm going to aim for adult contemporary - it's always been about boring, predictable, easy listening and nice sounding music and probably always will be.
Top 40 music seems to shift sounds quick, so maybe Adult Contemporary would be the profitable way to go... IDK, Lindsay you'd know way better than I would!

DAMMIT!
*sigh* and it was such a good name lol...
Well, I'm sure I'll think of a good name when I'm at that stage, but Allure Records was *SUCH* a good name.
Like, every name in the dictionary is taken. And in like 15 years when I'm ready to start the label, im guna have to name it something like "89 Blue Fire Allure Records" or some stupid 5-word name like that.
Oh well...

Well.. I disagree.. The Pop stage hasn't completed faded out. There is still pop around and one example would be Jesse McCartney. He has Pop with the mixture of some R&B.
Trans Contential isn't actually that bad. Lou Pearlman knows what he's doing and he has the money behind him to make artist succesful. Now they have some US5 group that they're doing pretty good with.
Jordan, I actually heard that she left the label because she wanted something different then the style that she recorded with him. From my understanding she recorded the complete album with them and then backed out of it or something.

If she backed out after they laid out all of that time and money, then she doesn't deserve another deal.

So, a label spent time/money making her an album, then shes like "no thanks"...
That's not very smart, nor professional. She's a GREAT singer...but wow, that's a dumb career move!

Well.. That's what they said in her official street team.. So I think it was one stupid move. But.. I'm sure Lou made her pay out the ass to get out of the contract.

Angel Faith's label was created specifically for her (by one of her relatives I believe) so that's why they're investing so much into her with so little in return. She should probably stay pop because she was part of No Secrets and they were a really pop-ish group, so I'd imagine that all of her fans from that group want her to sing the same style of music.
As for Brooke Hogan, her site is owned and maintained by her dad and manager. When it first opened a few months back (with her song "Lately" on it), the A&R guy at her label said that, as far as they were concerned, she hadn't recorded anything for her album (I know one of the producers that worked with her on Transcon and when he discussed using any of the songs he had done with her, that's what they told him).
Josh, when she left her label because she wanted to change her music, that was when she left Transcon who was having her do pop-rock.
As for pop being dead, the popular music styles cycle every few years. Pop has already started to make a comeback (do you really think Jesse McCartney would have been played on the radio 2 years ago?) and it will continue an upward trend and then eventually fall again and make way for rock/hip-hop again. When New Kids On The Block became "NKOTB" everyone thought pop was dead and hated the genre, and then Backstreet Boys came and broke the record for most albums sold ever. That's just how the music industry operates.

Well I knew Midas had some sort of relative connection, but still, HOW is that label making money? It boggles the mind! Ron Clapper (Midas CEO) must be either loaded or have some bizarre way of making a profit or have huge debts, they pour money into her (Angel) like crazy. But I like her album/sound/shes got a great messafe.
Like, I follow Angel/Midas Records and that label is friggin agressive and competitive. They've also signed Austin Brown, Michael Jackson's nephew. As well, they have started a country music offshoot.
Yeah, that's true, pop music does cycle. I'd say pop is coming back, SLOWWWLY. I love pop myself actually.
Gosh, this business is complicated and interesting...

It's not really complicated.. It's just not easy to understand. Jesse McCartney is actually pretty cool and I'm glad his success is going really well for him. He's deserved every bit of it.

Jesse McCartney is a manufactured piece of shit.
He is just lucky he had a great team behind him.
If the tables were turned, and he did things the way Jordan is, he would have never made it.
Jesse is a product.

I do like some of Jesse's songs, but if you're looking at it from a talent perspective...he really isn't super amazing at anything....he's pretty mediocre at singing/dancing/performing.......I give him his props for the success he has obtained......but when you have a team of industry experts behind you doing all the work for you....it shouldn't be that hard to succeed at what you're trying to achieve!!!

THANK YOUUUUUUUUUU!!!!!!!!!!
Dear God, I've been saying this about him from DAY *ONE*.
I mean, I'm sure he's nice enough and all, but that doesn't change the fact hes UNTALENTED and PRODUCED, PRODUCED,PRODUCED.

I don't like him, but his team doesn't care, I'm not their targeted consumer.
True as well. They shoot for the "OMIGODDDDDDDDDDDDDDD" generation of 8-14 year old girls...so nope, his label doesnt give 2 hoots what you think, lol.
